Jim Donald, a former president and CEO of Starbucks, today was appointed president and chief operating officer of Albertsons Companies, effective immediately. He replaces Wayne Denningham, who retired in January.
Steve Oakland will take the reins of the private label manufacturer. He will replace Sam K. Reed, who will serve as non-executive chairman of the board through July 1 and then retire from the company.
The board of directors of Big Y Foods Inc. has appointed Nicole D’Amour Schneider the company’s senior director of operations, effective Jan. 1. In her new role, Schneider oversees Big Y’s five supermarket districts, including its World Class Markets, Fresh Acres, Speciality Market, and Table & Vine wine and liquor division. She reports to VP of Store Operations Richard Bossie.
Jim Dorey has become president of Price Rite Marketplace, a registered trademark of Keasbey, N.J.-based Wakefern Food Corp., the largest supermarket cooperative in the United States. Dorey succeeds Neil Duffy who retired last October.
C&S Wholesale Grocers has named Mike Duffy its chief executive officer, effective Jan. 8, 2018. The company said Duffy will assume leadership responsibility for the wholesaler’s strategic, customer satisfaction and day-to-day operations.
The retirements of Neil Duffy, president of Price Rite Marketplace, a registered trademark of Wakefern Food Corp. with 64 grocery stores in nine states, and Larry Collins from Wakefern’s board of directors, as well as the addition to the board of Patrick J. Burns, CEO of Burns’ Family Neighborhood Markets, were revealed at the retailer-owned cooperative’s annual shareholder meeting.
Weis Markets announced Donna Banks-Ficcio has joined the company as VP of center store sales and merchandising.
